This cast iron okimono is about 10" high x 5" wide x 3.5" deep. It is signed on the back, with an unidentified mark. It weighs just over 4 lbs 7 ounces. It is one of several homages to the 1897 painting "Selflessness" by Japanese artist Yokoyama Taikan:

These statues are typically called "The Selfless Child". There are several versions of this small sculpture, a few by famous artists. They are often covered in gold, silver or bronze. This one has an urushi-like finish, similar to that found on Japanese kettles and teapots. It has a bit of rust on it and I will put a little oil on those spots to prevent the spread of rust. Other than that, I will leave it as it is which is dusty and dirty.
I found this one for a fraction of the price these usually go for, often in much worse condition.
I am not satisfied with my images and will try to do better when time permits.
Very pretty Japanese child sculpture
Wonderful!! The Japanese had a way with making the smoothest and most seamless castings using cast iron. Just extreme quality and true craftsmanship!!
