Hello everyone!!
By now, you've already determined that I have many sets of andirons, and you wouldn't be wrong about that. This is a set I recently found. It's cast iron English Bulldogs. The details of the bulldogs are outstanding, even the teeth, eyes and feet are finely detailed. These are from the late 1800's to very early 1900's. I've seen a few sets of these over the years, but the price on all of those was far out of my collecting budget. Of all the andirons I own, these would have to be my favorites. I do not know what foundry cast these, but the castings are very nicely done. They cleaned up and polished well. They're quite heavy and weigh about 25lbs each. They each measure 15 1/4" tall, 10" wide and 23" long (with shanks attached).
Thanks very much for taking time to stop in for a look!!!
