Hello everybody!!
Another of my antique match holders is the silver plated terrier with his bone next to a basket. This one was made by James W. Tufts in Boston and is numbered 2648. If you'll look closely, you'll notice the terrier has glass eyes. The details of the terrier are amazing and even the terrier's teeth are highlighted. This was made sometime between 1875 and 1915. It's in pristine condition and measures 3" wide, 2 1/4" tall and 3 1/4" deep.
James Walker Tufts (February 11, 1835 – February 3, 1902) is known for his founding of Pinehurst, North Carolina and for his development of a successful business in silver plate tableware. He was the inventor of the Arctic Soda Fountain and founded the Arctic Soda Fountain, Co.
Thanks very much for taking time to stop by for a look!!!
