Hello everyone!!
A Victorian era Putti sculpture. It was made by Tonks & Co. in the late 1800's in Birmingham England. It's made of brass and then silver plated. Though some of the silver has worn off over the past 150, years, it's still a wonderful piece . The details of this sculpture are just incredible. His little face, toes and fingers are perfectly formed. Even his toenails and fingernails are detailed. This was actually a Valentine's Day gift to my wife, but it showed up too late to give to her on that day. It's measures 13" tall, the base is 6 3/4" wide and it weighs 16 1/2lbs. It's signed with the maker's hallmark.
William Tonks founded the brassfoundry in 1789 or 1794.
The firm won gold medals at exhibitions in London and Paris in the 1850s.
The firm's trade mark was "WT&S" with a stylized sun.
The firm made cast and wrought brass products in Moseley Street, Birmingham.
Thanks very much for taking time to stop in for a look!!

Very sweet cupid/putto sculpture, the design & rounded base remind me of Meissen and Dresden porcelain putti
