And some more stuff from the Patapsco R. You ask why is all of this stuff located along those creeks. Turns out Baltimore City used to haul barges full of refuse out to the farms around the river. The farmers wanted the organic waste to put on their fields but … the glass, pottery, bricks, shingles etc. we’re left on the shorelines.

the milk glass piece in your first image is from Atterbury's 'Dancing Sailors' c1880s.
Interesting padlock! What does it say as it's hard to read even when I use the CW zoom.
Thanks for the info about the milk glass. I love to know details about the pieces that I find. I will look it up.
The lock says Ordinance Office War Department. I found it in the dump at an old coast defense fort called Fort Howard near Baltimore.
