Civil War Badge to Private Robert Patterson of Co. G 16th Infantry, born 1842, enlisted April 23rd, 1861, Lawrenceburg Indiana. Was at Battle of Bulls Bluff when the 16th was decimated, survived drowning, unit disbanded May 23rd, 1862, to reform the 15th Indiana Battery, Light Artillery June 7th, 1862. While with the 15th he was involved in the battles at Harpers Ferry, the Knoxville Campaign, the Atlanta campaign, the battles of Resaca, Dalles, New Hope Church, Allatoona, and Kennesaw Mountain. then came the Siege of Atlanta, Battle of Jonesboro, battle of Love Joy Station, the Franklin-Nashville campaign, the battle of Franklin and Nashville, and lastly the Carolinas Campaign.
Private Robert Patterson was mustered out on June 30, 1865

The markings on the back are stamped for both the metalsmith and selling agent.
