Here is yet another example of how dogged persistence can pay off for the collector of fairy lamps.
This blue & white Verre Moire dome has been waiting around for years to get a suitable base. In the meantime I had it paired with a light blue & white Welz spatter base (which in itself was originally acquired - as my very first fairy lamp - with an incorrect, but slightly matching in terms of colour, blue quilted satin glass dome!)
Luckily, I spotted this superb large Clarke base on eBay AU last week. It is something of a deluxe version, with an in - built posy ring (rather like a moat around the candle holder). The base is marked S Clarke's Trade Mark Patent Fairy.
The great thing about this type of base is that it will work with any kind of large (Cricklite size) dome, instantly displaying it to its best advantage. It is also very thick & heavy!
Most likely made in England, circa late 19th century.
Spectacular!!!!! I love the color.
Many thanks, Scott!
Very Cool.....
