So I walked into a Vinnnies and spent a good twenty minutes looking around and was about to leave when I passed by the cabinet by the exit and looked down to a lower shelf where I saw this 'form'. I picked it up and headed for the cash register. It had a bit of weight and I thought it might be metal rather than glass - gave it a tap and there was a bit of a ring to it. The finish was really interesting although the base had no mark. It was a familiar shape - bells went off - things I'd seen over the years. Lots of things. Got home and had a look online and was only able to come up with an exact same shape which was selling on the net with another Japanese vase - the condition did not look good. These days people are using them for Ikebana. The tall cylindrical neck with a garlic bulb neck is 'elegance' to my eye and the patina on my vase is similar to Japanese Murashido ware.
I look forward to hearing comments from the more experienced Japanese collectors here on CW.

I'm not experienced in this, but BOY is that nice! I love everything about this vase, the shape, the colors used and the speckling. Gorgeous!
