Here is a 5"W sculpted brown glass goose with two baby geese peeking out from its lower feathers, by glass artist Paul Hoff for the World Wildlife Fund endangered species series made by Kosta Boda Glass ca 1970s-1980s. This bird variety is the lesser white fronted goose, scientific name anser erythropus etched on the bottom
Nice details on the colouring !~

Thanks everyone for your thoughtful comments & praise
Phil, the wings especially have super detail, and look at the two baby eaglets heads poking out of the low feathers, what a sweet design
Aw DejaVu that's so nice of you to say! I am very addicted to these Paul Hoff animals and have one other in his mother-child series, think I have most of them now. It's a long wait usually as most still come from Sweden their origin
Scott it is a very spot on, realistic goose sculpture, another trademark of Mr Hoff's work. He primarily focused on bird and fish varieties, they were so numerous he didn't i.d. each one, fortunately he did in this case
Lol Dean, at least he taught us this 'anser erythropus' goose variety right. Where I live on Long Island we are inundated with the wild Canada goose type, they are huge and very bold, they seem to sense their 'right of way' driving law for their protection...we have steep fines for any driver hitting one, so motorists have to wait patiently for them to cross a road, often in a procession with their chicks in tow, honking the horn does nothing they will not be rushed!!
beautiful!!
Thanks for all the info. I saw a difference in the goose's profile, but I knew it was so well done, it had to be a different type of goose and authentic. The Gooses' "right of way" is cool. I live in Largo, Florida, we have been a bird sanctuary city for as long as I can remember with bird safety zones. In a similar vein... I rescued a 2' softshell turtle from in the middle of a 5 lane recently, she weighed about 35 pounds, (a very old girl - I'm a herpetologist, so yes, I sexed it). Very satisfactory.
Sean & Dean, thanks guys for the loves & your wonderful comments
Sean, really glad you saw the beauty in this goose, he's a special one
Dean, I totally enjoyed your story, you're so lucky to live in Fla with all that amazing wildlife. Congrats on saving the turtle, why they wander into the road is baffling right. Feels really good to do an animal rescue, yrs ago when first married we rented a small house & one room was in the back close to the garage. Our mean builder landlord had trapped a squirrel in one of those steel spring loaded things, he drove away and left the poor animal under our back window frantically spinning around. I went outside, took the trap under a tree & kept fiddling with it til the door opened and the squirrel scooted up the tree. At that moment the owner returned, furious at me (he was no doubt going to kill it), and his partner was laughing. All I said was, "I thought you forgot about it"....:)
Good job on the squirrel release. He shouldn't have wanted to kill it, you did the right thing. You showed him the right way. I hope he learned a lesson.
Thanks Dean, I know I did the right thing as that man was cruel to animals, it takes all kinds & I doubt I changed him, but it felt good to save that little life :)
Leesa thanks so much for the love for this goose family, glad you enjoyed
