In the 19th century several clever French sculptors had success with making decorative, classic inspired, bronze figurines in 'table top size'. One of the, today lesser known, sculptors was Jean Bulio (1827-1911). He was industrious and around 70 of his figurines are known today. This 40 cm high one - bought at an Internet auction - shows the Muse Terpsichore - Muse for dance and lyre playing - with her lyre and tambourine, accompanied by a putto on castanets. OMG what a noise they would have made ! As you remember from Greek mythology there were 9 Muses, all daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne, so she had 8 sisters ! I don't know if JB made figurines of them too. Maybe you know ?
