I cannot identify the age of this necklace. The "E" in Monet is printed backwards in two different places on this necklace clasp. Any ideas?

Perhaps this is a clue that it is a knockoff?
Great site FineLines! Thanks for the info
Thanks everyone. I did consider that it is a fake, but it is so well made for a fake.
Using the site that FineLines gave above, I found that it was likely made in the 40's or at least faked to look like the 40's.
something else that might help; it looks like the dye stamp was off on one of the "M" too. Its not really noticable except under a loop. It looks as though it shifted just slightly at the time of the stamping.

Sorry to say that I think your necklace is a reproduction, after researching Monet jewelry and the company for 4 years I can tell you that that kind of carelessness especially when it came to the Monet name would NEVER have passed their quality control !
When you say carelessness are you referring to the stone colors or the overall piece?

I mean both as someone actually gave me the matching stretchy bracelet to that necklace so I know exactly what it looks like - the Chernows would never have used plastic stones like that - any stone they used was fine Swavorski crystal and they would NEVER have stamped the name of their company with a backwards E!!!!!!!!!! Ceck out my site http://www.monetthebook.com for more info!
