Authentic, antique metal sign.
Approx. 20" x 30".
I have been told 1916 model.
BTW, was offered $800 for this sign by a collector in 1969. Glad I turned him down.

This is the first time I have posted a picture of this piece anywhere. I happened on this site, saw the "show and tell" feature and had by chance just taken a picture of my sign.
The story behind this piece is not real exciting. My parents purchased a large, old Victorian type home in the mid-west in the early 60's. I think it was 1962. This piece was among many old and antique items the previous owner left behind in the house. It never caused much stir, as it was just considered an old picture, I think. It hung on the wall in an upstairs bedroom to hide an imperfection in the wall. However, as a boy I always thought it was kind of unusual and unique. In 1969, there was a "white elephant" contest held by a local mall. Folks were supposed to bring and show their most unusual possession. I took this "Coke girl" to the contest to show. I don't remember a lot of interest, and I didn't win any prizes, but an antique dealer offered me $800 for it. I was a boy of 14, and didn't think I should sell without my parent's permission. Anyway, my parents gave me the tin sign and I have kept and displayed it ever since. Today, she is just become kind of a "member of the family". I think she reminds me of a better time and place.
I have not really researched any facts about this sign. I think the quality and design of this piece makes so much of what we see today in advertising seem so inadequate.
I have no desire to sell, and by posting a picture, was only hoping for some comments, stories or observations.

1997 Petretti's 10th edition list your 1916 self-framed tin sign at $5,000, but 14 years later it's closer to eight thousand. Good find.
