I'm not positive, but I think that this Loetz vase could be Phanomen Genre 1/4 . It is 6 1/2 " tall, and properly signed, "Loetz Austria". It has 4 deep dimples, and 8 elongated teardrops. I could not (after 80+ photos) capture the true colors. In sunlight it looks like yellow base glass, with silver-blue iridescence. When you look at it as it sits on my shelf, it looks like dull copper, with blue-silver iridescence. The teardrops are a different color, that looks like a carmel-red, striped with blue. Spreading Chestnut? The low light photo, I enhanced to see if I could duplicate what my eyes see, but only the copper color is close. ...the blue is too pronounced. .... I have checked every site I can think of for a positive ID, and would appreciate comments. Thanks, Toni

Thanks for the confirmation ! I was 99% sure, but it always helps to have it verified. I have a few more Loetz pieces that I will get some pics of ! ...Thanks again.

Strangely, I like it upside-down better than right side up.

Hi Cogito. Looking at the photos, I agree with you! But, I believe that it is a matter of perspective and composition. The upright photo was taken with harsh full sunlight, and a hard background. The up-side down photo was taken with softer interior light, and a draped back ground that mimics the curves of the vase.

Beautiful Loetz Phanomen Genre 1/4! Actually, I think you did a nice job of describing the various colors in this vase. You mention that you have a few more pieces of Loetz that you will be taking photos of. If they are anything like this one, you have a gold mine and a fabulous collection of Loetz! Congratulations!

LoetzDance, Thanks for the comments; but I only wish that my other pieces were as nice as this one! I started twenty years ago collecting Czech/Bohemiam, Steuben, Durand, and Tiffany Glass, and have made MORE than my share of mistakes. Grouped together they make for a pretty collection.
