I love this beautiful chess set.My husband and i went for lunch appx; 10 years ago and we stop at this Antique store. There we seen this set.We paid a decent price for it.Our daughters love playing chess with dad.I am a little up set because as of today i really can"t get someone to really tell me the year this was made or what the pcs are.We have been to a few Antique dealers and they said it is nice but it looks like the early warriors or some kind of american indian tribe. We"ll what ever it maybe we love it.

Looks like spanish conquistadors and native americans.
Spanish king and queen would be Fernando II of Aragon, and Elizabeth I of Castille.
The natives would be central or south american, probably aztecs, since the rook looks like an aztec pyramid.
I am not sure of the age, these could be a higher end novelty or souvenir set.
Maybe a peruvian or mexican souvenir.
      Lovely, thanks for sharing!!!

Did you find anything out about the chess set value ect... I just found the exact same set in a pawn shop and was scouring the internet to find out more about it and ran across this. It seems very old and antique. Maybe valuable.

Have either of you found out any more information about this set? I too have found one. The exact set. The one I found claims to be from the 1800's. Seem to me like a resin material and was cast, so I am not sure if they are really that old.

Thanks for any information you can supply.
