This is a cabinet card of my great, great, great, great (4th Great) grandmother, Mary (Sweeney) Call. She was born in Ireland in 1825. I am curius as to what is around her in the photo, or why it is there? If you know when this was taken that would be helpful. If you know anything else, please comment...

Is this a photograph of a photograph of her? I read online that when there is the designs around the person it is often done after the person has died as a memorial.

SOME of these are memorial; however the motif was popular as a way to "frame" an image and many times does not represent a memorial view. Usually the type of flowers or other items will indicate a memorial view.

I don't believe this is a memorial view.
