Awesome! I think your in the right region. I have a few yen but none look quite like this. What does the back look like? On most coins each side is diferent and one will have the country of origen written on int in some shape of form. Also how big is it, cause it might be a decroative piece. Either way, I love it!
need the flipside but it reads shou =longevity so it is probably a token in stead of a coin
