I've been pondering for a while whether I should edit this post http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/29445-doll-id-please?in=user or make a new one.
I have finally decided on a new one, since I am adding another doll.
These are my hard plastic and celluloid Italian dolls. None have any markings, except for the biker, who has an 80 on her back.
--->Blonde in burgundy dress is the one in the post linked above. She is 27 inches with hard plastic body, celluloid face, stunning turquoise sleep eyes and blonde mohair wig. Mamma box in her belly. Doesn't she look great now?
--->Brunette is 30 inches tall, all celluloid, brown sleep eyes, not a mamma doll, not sure of the wig, but not mohair. Her face is a bit homely, but gorgeouse nonetheless
--->Redhead biker is 34 inches, all celluloid, mohair wig (what's left of it) blue side glancing or sleep eyes (don't work). Mamma box in her belly. Marked 80 on her back.
I've tried to find info on the internet, but not much is available. I've even checked in italian pages and blogs to no avail.
As far as I've been able to find, I've been able to narrow their age down to anywhere from 1930s to 1950s. Maker/s unknown.
Thanks Manikin!!
Hi Esther . Your dolls are lovely and look Italian . What maybe holding you up on finding others like yours is that they have been re dressed . New owner must have wanted a more updated look . They all have newer clothes on . They would have been dressed in Dress's amd many were pretty elaborate with hoops and long skirts . So many companies that made them and without original clothes they may remain a mystery but they are wonderful and such fun to see all your girls ! Hope this helps . I would date them from 40'-60's maybe ? By material . I enjoyed seeing them :-)
Hi Marty,
I redressed them....or should I say dressed them, as I got them in old children's clothes that were not original to them. So I just looked for something in their size and dressed them.
I have searched the net high and low, and most girls like mine have been redressed. Some still have original tulle dresses, but those are so far gone that it's hard to get a real idea to redress them correctly. But I will eventually give them dresses as close to original as possible.
Thanks for your input Marty!! You are always a great help!
Well you sure dressed them cute as can be :-) I have 3 big girls like them they are US dolls but I dress them in real childs clothes and change their outfits to season . I get them clothes at a resale shop for a few dollars and they are happy :-)
