I really don't know how old this is, but I was quite surprised that it actually gets cold and stays cold. Very unusual style refrigeration mechanism - at least in my estimation - couldn't be less than 30 years old. It's darn cool.
1970s, pretty sure of that ay. Cool
Signaholic, I was thinking probably 1970s also.
Naw, you guys are wrong. If it was 1970's, it would have a dynamic ribbon logo, this particular style of font with the word "drink" means it's probably pre-1964-65, but my guess would be late 1950's, early 1960's.
Well since I grew up in the 60s and early 70s I'm goin with my opinion.
It might've been made in the 60s but was certainly out there in the 70s.
how about this http://soda-machines.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=138&Itemid=14
Yep, that's it Tommy. They were used for years.
Looks like the verdict is somewhere between early '60s and early '70s. I noticed that on that site, the examples show the round Coca-Cola logo on the red machines and a square logo on the wood grain example like mine. Makes me think mine was possibly a transition between the styles. Either that or there are just additional variations not indicated on that site. Either way, it's older than I originally thought! Sweetness.
And thank you officialfuel!
Thank you Trey!!
Thank you dj-reverb!!
Sorry I missed this one Jason, really cool!!!!
Thank you Kerry! I appreciate that!
I just bought another one just like it but with a Dr. Pepper emblem, and slightly darker wood grain. Will post pics later... :)
My friend just gave me this same woodgrain one. How expensive is it to restore these? Or would it be better trying to do it myself? The rust spots on the inside look ugly. But this thing works great.
I'd like to know what the value of this exact cooler would be? What you paid on the market for it? My parents have one just like it in an estate sale.... any help appreciated!
moppin47.. I replied to your question that was also asked in my Dr. Pepper cooler post. I would imagine this one is worth at least $100. It's not anywhere near as valuable as the '50s and earlier coolers.
shawnjstoltz.. No clue. I wouldn't recommend doing something like that on your own unless you really know what you're doing.
Thanks so much ... gives me an idea!
