Looking for some help, i have searched and searched to find a picture of what this dealership sign looked like originally. I have not been able to find anyone (including chrysler) who has been able to provide some information regarding the time period it was used or even a pricture of another one. It came from the chrysler-plymouth agency (peno auto sales)in Coalport, pa. It was owned by domonic peno.He started the agency in 1922 and passed away in 1957. Any information or help identifying it would be greatly appreciated. I researched the makers name, but nothing other than that made porcelain signs in detroit, and the dates the business was open.
thank you
chris
Where's the other side?
i don't know if there was another side. i would agree with you that it looks like a half a wing and there should be another side, but like i said, i can not find a picture or another example. i dont know if it hung on a pole or against the building. i do know that it was only a "chrysler plymouth" dealership, no dodge.
What you have is one side of a once original double sided porcelain neon sign. The sign is from the 30's. A nice sign indeed. It's unfortunate you don't have the other side is what I meant in my previous post. It does look like there is some damage above the E, not a porcelain chip, but more severe. Before I suggest you try and clean it up a little, are you looking to find it a new home? I would be interested.
MMM I really appreciate your advice. I was the youngest chry dod jeep dealer in the northeast. i worked for chrysler for 8 years and bought a dealership. i did very well until the downturn. I would love to find a picture of this sign. everyone i have talked to said the sign was from the 50's, but i always felt it was from the 30's, possibly one of the first neon signs chrysler/ply used. if you wouldnt mind emailing me any information and hopefully a picture or two I would greatly appreciate it. i really want to clean it up and have the neon re-done. i would love to talk to you about this sign. thanks chris (mysticspot@hotmail.com). thanks again
Here's your sign, I wish it could have been a shorter address.

Nice Art Deco look to the sign. I hope you restored it with new neon. I'll have to look. I might have a picture of that sign in my collection too. I'll post it if I have it.
