Archaic design Chinese bronze cremation urn. The Taotie commonly found on ritual bronze vessels from the Shang and Zhou Dynasty. Without having the item in hand it is hard to date. Some argue that the design can be traced back to Neolithic jades of the ancient Yangtze River Liangzhu culture (3310–2250 BCE). But you can call it an incense burner if you like?

Bring it to any place that would be interested in reselling it; they'll likely already have the knowledge to tell you how old it is. You might even be able to email some bigger auction houses, Christies and such, with some quality pictures, and if they think it's worth taking a look at, then you might have something extra special.
