Was at an estate sale last weekend and purchased this lamp for $1.00 because knowone would bid and thought I could get the matching floor ashtray on the patio. To my supprise the floor ashtray skyrocketed over a thousand dollars? You would think the antique store owner would of bid on the lamp too. The lamp works fine, just do not have a place for it.
You can't go wrong for the price papa, this can be easily restored ,or cut and make your own ashtray stand!
As you have many oriental pieces, would you be able to tell me anything about the piece I have posted. I called it a foodog but not sure,it's definately a family stamp/crest of some sort. Small brass item. Thoughts?
A Thousand ?!! Man I've got to get the one I have to restore done and for sale!
I think they call it auction drama fever. I watched two bidders go to war on one floor ashtray. Thinking about the cost of cigarettes, that is about six months of cigarettes or 19 cartons of smokes. That is more then my taxes on my house.
Nice Rembrant style lamp. Looks like It needs some TLC....with repainting and polish it looks like a couple hundred buck lamp in no time.
When I did outdoor shows, I couldn't take enough of them to any given show. They are such a lovely practical lamp. They offer task, ambient and even a little night light in the base often. So many choices and in such a tidy little space too if needed. They tart up beautifully too. Depending on what you want to invest in them. From having the chrome redone to just taking them back to the metal and using primer and paint. Always a great bargain in my humble view. They are still making the appropriate silk shades too. A drum with the three little vee s to center the shade on the glass reflector, they were often in a white waffle pattern but they did come in other versions too. The candle sockets too could accommodate little glass shades. Trilights will never outgrow their usefulness.
Sincerely,
Lisa
