I'm trying to find information on this doll that was given to me by my late mother in law. So far I've run into a dead end.
The tag on her arm says Maison PI Marcheuse Poupees Capi and on the box it says Bebes Capi.
She's about 22 -23 inches tall, composition and a walker.
Thanks.
This is in French, but your doll is pictured - http://jrd.cij.over-blog.com/article-les-poupees-bella-44115248.html
Casa Pi = Maison Pi = CaPi = Bébés Capi. Capi, and Bébés Capi is the label. They are french dolls. The factory was in Perpignan, south-west of France. The creator of the dolls, Mister Pi was coming from Spain. The fabrication of the dolls began around 1929 and ended around 1966.
The son of Mr Pi and his wife are the creators of Bella dolls in 1946. Some dolls may have a resemblance between the two labels, in the begining.
Most of the Capi dolls have no marks : everything was writen on the boxes.
They can be in ceramic, composition, and later in rhodoid and polystyrène, which is supposed to be unbreakebable. Many of them are tall girls. I dont think they have any names, but I'm not sure. We dont have a lot of documents about them.
"Marcheuse" means she's a walker
I found a picture of a tall one (70 cm), who is also a walker, and has a name : Mireille. So I suppose ypur's also may have a name!
