Found this at a local antique shop. I figured since I do not have to pay the shipping, it was worth the buy despite the single gunshot hole. The metal is still hanging on the other side, so I suppose it could be repaired. In pretty good condition otherwise.
Nice find.
nice sign i really like it how big is it?? canada was pretty boring when they made their buttons in the 1950's, seems like they only made two ( english and french both have same image and both 4'). if i were you i would not repair the gunshot hole, i think it adds character.
Thanks cocacolakid97 and coke.trevor.cola. It is a 3 foot sign. I like the signs with a little character too, so I am not planning on fixing it at this time. I like the history of these signs and would love to know where they were hanging and exactly when. The holes and wear adds to the mystery.
With an item like this that is very plentiful in the marketplace, I would recommend waiting for a better one. Save your money. Buy one good item instead of 3 or 4 lesser items. You will be happy in the long run.
Thanks sanhardin!
earlycoke, I agree; and I hope to upgrade (like many others have) at a later date if the situation presents itself.
I am glad you took my comment constructive, as I meant it. As long as you are happy, that is what this hobby is all about. All my stuff is not mint condition either! :)
Judging by the size of that hole, looks like it was shot with a .357 Magnum, Dirty Harry style! (At least the shooter missed the Logo!!!! :)
Thanks officialfuel, EJW-54 and sanhardin! Daddy_Nobucks; my brother who claims he knows something about guns thinks it is a hunting rifle. The piece is hanging off the back of the sign...if the logo was shot , it would still be in the shop I found it at!!!
Thanks earlycoke.
Thanks Chevelleman69 and trukn20
Nice one, even with the hole!! I've seen a couple of these in my area, in worse shape, and the folks want outrageous $$ for them
Thanks shughs and Designer!
Thanks tommy1002, they are hard to find locally in any shape. Buying one on e-bay costs an extra $50-100 shipping, so I felt the bullet hole was OK in exchange for a semi-reasonable price (I negotiated the price down $65 lower) and no shipping!
Thanks stepback_antiques
Thanks tmyers2147 !
Thank you sugargirl and mtg75!
