can anyone tell me what this is?

this is an old stand of some sort thinking an old radio perhaps, it used to be my grandparents and they have both passed on, no one in the family seems to know what it is forsure and i havent been able to find anything on the web, does anyone have any clue, i would really like to know! Thankyou!
