I saw this machine at the Eastern Shore Threshermens gathering in Federalsburg MD in 2010.These steam tractors were suprising quiet while running(more like crawling). They required constant oiling and some used wood or coal in the firebox to heat their boilers.
I love watching and listening to these things work, but it requires a lot of work to keep them running. Nice to stand beside on a cool morning while you wait on them to build pressure, but hell to be on in the blazing sun!
I've been to the Tuckahoe Steam Show many times but I've never made it to the Federalsburg show. I think it's a lot of the same guys though. Nice shot! Did you take it?
Thanks everyone. I take good pictures of big objects, but struggle with the small stuff.
This looks very similar to the tractor in an old family photo I posted yesterday.
