Being a Pit Bull owner and collector of Militeria, I am ALWAYS looking for a photo of a US Military person with a Pit Bull type dog. The photo in the frame I found at a fea-market, and the dog looks just like my little Pit Bull, and the other two photos I picked up on Ebay.

Mine is a Lab Pit mix,What a sweetheart. He was taken from a kill shelter by a non kill the day before we got him.He was due to be executed the same day we got him. He's been a total joy since we've had him.I cringe when I think of all the Rodneys that aren't so lucky.

All mine were rescued as well. (See my photo)The 2 on the sides were saved from a kill pound, the little one was ON THE TABLE to be put down. The big one in the middle I rescued from a fighting ring. I was an Animal Control officer for my town for 4 years, and turned a HIGH KILL pound into a NO KILL shelter all by my self. Saved over 500 dogs on my own time, over 1/2 being Pit Bulls. I was nominated for OFFICER of the year 3 of the 4 years I was there, and won Officer of the year in 2008 for all my dedication to duty and all the dogs I saved. Then in 2010 the Village had budget cuts, and I was let go due to "lack of seniority" and budget cuts...Can you believe that??!! The dog pound I worked at is back to being a slaughter house :(

The best dog I ever had was a brindle pit we named Bocephus. I hate the bad rap they get in the news because I know that those stories are a result of a pit with a bad master.

That is sad tlm...but think of all those precious lives you saved. You have my utmost respect!!! I think dogs are one of the most precious creatures on the face of the earth.I get teary eyed every time I hear of animal abuse and then I get angry, very angry !!! Thank You tlm !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Hedgewalker. I would LOVE to get back into Animal Control, but in this economy, most Police Departments are letting that position slide.....I am now a 911 operator, and one day plan on writing a book about all the dogs I saved. I have photos of every dog I saved, when they got impounded, and what rescue placed them. I have also received many "updates" on dogs (mostly the Pit Bulls, because they have the saddest stories) I have seen horrific things done to animals, most of them were Pit Bulls, and they still licked my face and wanted loving from me...even with their broken legs, emaciated state, or imbedded collars. I could go on and on.....Donate to a Pit Bull rescue if you have any extra $$...I do....

My son has a pitbull tlm and no one will rent to him :-( . The dog is well behaved and he rescued him about 6 yrs ago from a abusive home where they made him fight and he was quite tore up I was afraid he was damaged mentally from the abuse but he is fine now . The dog was scared of everything . He is now a happy loved dog and my son chooses to be homeless before he parts with his dog . I am glad he saved one and and I donate to his food every month ! :-) Good for you and all you do. Did you see article that animal control man wrote when he quit his job ? It was pretty explicit language but many all valid points to owners of pets , My son also was an animal control person he let his license go a few yrs back .
