Here are three dolls that I bought recently. They are quite tall at 18". The doll in the dark dress is porcelain from the waist up and the other 2 are full body. I could not find any markings on them to help me find out the age or where they were manufactured. Any thoughts on how to identify?

The one in black is a german what is called a half doll. Circa about 1920 . They we used in many ways including as lamps , pincushions and in this case a doll

She looks like composition to me as do the other 2 . Could I see their legs ? helps date them . They appear to be Romeo and Juliet dressed so could have been used in a play or a display . They were not meant to be dolls to play with . If I can see body I can do better but they are wonderful ! I love them ,

The 2 full size dolls and bend forward and sideways and turn. The arms are moveable at the shoulder and one elbow. I like the dress and look of the half size doll the best. The half doll looks like it has a electrical plug in. I collect antiques with my dad and this is the first time I've collect a doll(s) and I saw it and had to have it. They just looked very unique.

Your 2 dressed as Hamlet Characters are from the 1940's and are lovely mannequin's used for a display . The Half doll is made up as a lamp . Don't use it though . I love the other 2 and would take them in a minute .It is not always easy to ID maker of mannequins unless marked or they have attributes of a artist we know . They can also be be made my an unknown artist . You can email me at manikin1234@aol.com and please send photo's of their faces I can tell on my PC by painting more and they will appear much larger for me ok
