I love this pull toy horse possibly from the late 19th or early 20th century. A friend of my Mothers from Germany gave me this many, many years ago.
Three hooves have wheels. The hooves broke but I glued them back on.
Reins are leather and there is a oval metal plate hanging on the front under its neck , the letters that are stamped in it appear to be "H e h a", maybe this is the name of the horse or maker? It is hard to make out the exact letters.
Horse has orange glass eyes and the mane and tail appear to be real horse hair.Body is molded and is covered with brown wool felt?
Wood cart.
I have spent many hours researching these type of pull toys and I would greatly appreciate it if somebody could tell me where exactly this was made and around what year.
Thank You
I have one very similar to your- mine is black on wheels. I have been trying to identify it also. There is a MADE IN WEST GERMANY imprint under the saddle.
So, I will keep looking for identification.
Hey, I love horses and I can't help but love this one, too! He's so cute. I hope you find out lots more about him.
hi this set was made in 1965 aprox. the company also made a beautiful 24 inch hunter with full tack in black, brown and dapple.they were realistic with wheels built into feet .the only draw back as in the photo here was the plastic doesent age well causing bending of the legs.I solved this by splitting the leg, carving a small insert .glueing it inside and assembling the plastic leg over .also the tack will rot I replaced all with leather using origional buckles.I was so lucky to get 5 of these horses when I was 11 years old .and still love them today
Hello Susan,
Thank you so very much. You do not know how many years I have researched this horse, I have many, many hours online & every book at every library in my county.
I even paid to get it appraised on-line. My first appraiser was stupid, she had asked if a child could sit on it? I had the dimensions in the lisiting. I made a complaint to the company and they got me another appraiser, which he told me it was worth 5 0r 10 bucks. I will have to find my appraisal & copy it on here. I can't remember off hand if it was the 1st or 2nd appraiser that told me it was Breyer, I knew it wasn't Breyer.
Needless to say, I have no trust any more in any Antique appraisers that take my money.LOL!!!
Thanks for sharing
Do you remember the name of the company?
