This is a great find of an Iitala Ultima Thule pitcher. As some of you know I am on a bit of a Scandinavian glass craze, and I just couldn't believe what I was seeing at a thrift I was going to pass as I had visited there yesterday!
I have pictured the small bowl I found earlier in the week as well. Two different Salvation Armys. Wonder if someone donated a bunch of Iitala.
Just shy of 8 inches tall and 4 1/2 inches wide, with that "melting snow" bottom.
Bellin, totally thought of you when I saw it, although it was five bucks!
I will probably go way out of my way tomorrow to see if any more emerges. One can only hope...
I am learning that one does not the use the term 'jug' on CW. I love the pitcher!
Oh V, "jug" is so yesterday! Pitcher is new, modern, hip even :)
Thanks for the love too!
Nice pitcher. Looks heavy. I know absolutely nothing about glass, but yesterday I purchased a pitcher from Goodwill and was wondering if you would take a look and share some info on my purchase. Thank You!
Lost, I can try, plus there are a lot of terrific glass collectors who frequent this site. Post it and ask...
We can be very old fashioned down here!
Oh please V, you are the coolest!
I broke a few speed laws to check into the same thrift to see if a collection was donated. No go on the Ultima Thule, but got a snowball and another interesting piece of what I think is Scandinavian glass. Slogging through pictures now to try and ID it. Will post my bevy of Scandi glass tomorrow as it is dark here which doesn't make for good pictures.
I think I may have influenced vets first comment about using the word jug Amber.
Beautiful "pitchers" !!!!
You're making me blush, Hedge!
Hahaha!
Cheers Bellin!
I love the Lid for it, very unqiue.
Unique! :)
Alfredo, I agree. I actually broke my large footed fruit bowl which was my favorite too! I had the whiskey glasses (which I posted) but ended up flipping them as I was too afraid to use them. I still love the look though and will pick them up when I see them for cheap.
I have that lid, actually thought it was a dish.
UPdate on this piece. About a year ago I got a panic email from a woman who had just broke this same pitcher. It was a wedding gift from her mother in law. Guess who was coming to visit.? Since I hadn't used it yet, and was kind of afraid to I decided to flip it to her. She was so happy, and she was on a time crunch, it went out super fast mail. Made me feel good to find a good home for this fab piece.
Amber, what a great story!!!! Now that's great Karma! XO
Agreed, I kept meaning to update as it was such a feel good
