Did you know that the front grille of the 1939 Cadillac was the inspiration for the design of the Shure 55? The microphone that many sellers on Ebay today call the "Fat Elvis mic", started out having three different models (55A/55B/55C), due to different impedances. In the 40's, Shure changed their numbers to 555 and 556, for the shock mounted models. It would reign the world of music and public speech until the 55S model came along in 1951. Find out more at my blog, The Deco Sound.
You definitely should! Of all the vintage mics I have, it's one of the best sounding ones!
Very Nice, Shure makes great stuff!
Thanks fifties50s and oldhippee.
That Fatty is killer!
It sure is! And it sounds really good, too!
