I went to a great auction last night and picked this up. The case resonates the sound when you play it. Fun!

Someone else showed a similar set as an 'unsolved mystery' a couple yrs or so ago -- I'll offer the same thought here as I did there. This is a set of individual "xylophone bars" which were used in grade school music classrooms, each one being handed out to a student (with a mallet) who would all then attempt to follow along/play some simple melody (at the teacher's direction) in order to theoretically learn musical notes of the scale and how to read them on sheet music.

Or in other words, this item as shown wasn't ever really intended to be a complete musical instrument unto itself -- instead it is a "teaching tool". VERY COOL anyways...I totally remember using these in my own grade school music classes way back then, and wish I had a set of them of my own now... ;-) :-) <lol>
