Purchased this lamp from a "Antique Mall" because I really liked it. I have had it for 3 or so years but have not been able to find any info on it.
There is a lable under the base that says " Brady Lite" and right under that on the lable "portable" "Detroit Patented"

    Unsolved Mystery

Any help on identifying era or when made or where it was designed to be used would be apprciated. ( Looks like something that would have been in a smoking lounge of a mens club or similar setting, such as a hotel or possibly a mortuary).

Brady Lite made an unusual floor lamp . It was made of heavy cast bronze with a mica lining and a filagree shade. There was a section of the shade that swung out exposing a magnifying lens for focusing the light. Very heavy, lamp that measured 60" height. Circa 1920's.

I can't tell from your photos if you have the magnifying mecanism on the lamp shade. If you don't you may want to check ebay as there is one on right now. It would add greatly to the value of your lamp.

The lamp is complete with the magnifying lens. I also saw the lens on ebay. Any idea on value since this is also a smoking stand as it has an ashtray and lighter built in also.

There is currently one on ebay with a $975 buy it now price. You might follow it and see if it sells. Off the top of my head I would say six to seven hundred. You could google Brady Lite, and see if there are any completed auctions for this type of lite and what they sold for. I ussually base a appraisal on completed sales and not what someone is asking.

I just inherited the exact same lamp. A relative owned the lamp from around 1920 to 1980's when it was then passed to my mother. The lamp was always used in a home in earlier days. Have you sold your lamp or found someone to appraise it?
