I recently purchased this item at a small antique shop. It is impressed "Austria 4212' and has the raised mark for Julius Dressler. I would like to know more about it--whether it's a common piece or relatively unusual. I suspect evaluations are not allowed here, but if so, I would LOVE to know an approximate value. Thanks so much! Jack.

Nice piece. Dressler pieces, for some strange reason, do not command high prices these days. I'm not entirely certain why, but if this same piece were impressed with an Amphora label it would be worth at least 4 times or more what you could get for it with the current Dressler mark. Still, I think this piece is quite unusual and very nice. Assuming the condition is perfect then I think mid-3 figures would be reasonable estimate.

Thank you cogito for taking the time to comment on this piece. There was a tiny chip on one of the spouts which I had professionally repaired--I'm not sure how that affects value but Matt Astleford did a superb job!

Repaired works, if done well, generally are reduced by 20-40% in value from an otherwise perfect example. In any event, I would recommend enjoying the vase and not worry about value so much. It will increase in value over time and who knows maybe some day Dressler's stock will gain attention of more collectors.
