I was wondering if anyone could tell me if BOTH of these chairs are Hoffman/Howell Art Deco Chair? The chairs are part of a set, sofa not shown, but the vertical support bars on the back of these chairs seem sightly different.
here is more info
1) Chair with wood arm rest and logo Frame 24dx30hx24w
2) Chair with metal arm rest (no logo) Frame 24dx33hx24w (3 inch taller back)
3) Sofa with wood arm rest (no logo) Frame 63wx24d30.5h (not shown)
These chairs are so distinctive - they look spot-on to me. It's not at all uncommon to see a little bit of variance in industrial output from this era. And the slats aren't primary design elements, so who was gonna care? Great chairs!
Hi aa2h, Thanks for the post on my chairs. This one of yours sure looks similar, here is part of the comment I got from sabeleto regarding my chair. ------- The springer chair was made by Howell but not designed by Hoffmann. It was designed by Philip E. G. Ericson. Design Patent # D93712. You can see it at " http://www.google.com/patents?id=YvR5AAAAEBAJ&pg=PA1&dq=DESIGN+FOR+A+CHAIR+howell&source=gbs_selected_pag --------- Do you think those are the original cushions? are they leather? vinyl?
