It has been so dry at the thrifts that I have been going through my earlier purchases that I haven't gotten to yet. These are serigraphs by F. Gate. I have found that I am terrible at finding painters/printers to research my finds. I would love if someone 1) could help me out with this and 2) help me be a better researcher for painters. Usually I can stumble my way through but I keep running into dead ends. I know it is because I am doing something wrong...help!
V, any ideas on this one?
"F. Gates" in google. S(he) might be local so add Chicago (?) serigraph.
Tried and failed V. I know I am doing something wrong here. Will gift you kitty if you want her.
Try a few names in front. Frank Fred Faye Frances etc.
Try "serigraphy" rather than serigraph. Try "silk screen" too!
You know about the use of inverted commas in searches?
You're getting lots of hits of the George F. Gates. Jacob F. Gates etc type.
You could hope that (s)he's a relation of Bill!
I really like the thistle one!
My favorite too. Couldn't break up the pair though. For four bucks each why?
Grammys are on. I collect and thrift, my hubby is a music file. LOVEs it, so he is grumping at the Grammys. He is as versed at music as you are at everything V!
I have decided to move some of my thrift finds V, so if there is anything you love tell me and I will send it to you as a grateful gift. I bake cookies too.
Since I am having such trouble lately with my searches, can you review commas?
Wow.. these are lovely. I went on google images and put in flowers, wood block prints, etc. I will keep at it cuz these are really beautiful. I love chickory!
Thank you agoodworks. I couldn't leave them. Any info welcome with gratitude. Love finding treasures that are forgotten or not appreciated. i am impressed by the "art of it all", if that make any sense. Thank you again.
"X" says that the search should have this term. Without them you will get a wider result.
Serigraph F. Gates
will be different to
"Serigraph" F. Gates
or
Serigraph "F." Gates
Hello Amber Rose,
As handsome as these are, my guess is that they're the wonderful creations of a gifted student. I'll try to find out something more about them and get back to you.
I think that you are right Budek, student work. Pretty student work.
Thanks to all for the love.
