Another engraved piece from Bohemia, though by this date it was probably known as Czechoslovakia! I've decided to put together a selection of cut glass pieces from my collection. It's a bit different to my other pieces. I know that some people just don't like cut glass, but I like the feel of the sharp edges on a cut piece. A pressed glass piece just doesn't have the same touchy-feely thrill. I think the Northern Bohemians were amazing glass cutters. The Silesians too! The Art Deco movement was taken on in Bohemia with gusto and I have always loved the Deco Decanter and Glasses by Karel Palda of Novy Bor (Haida).
This shaker has no colour flashing.
The entire surface has been cut or facetted with two repetitions of an art deco organic design of slashes, fans and cross hatched dots.
No mark. The bottom is star cut as well and the pontil has been ground out and polished
    I stands 24 centimetres high = 9.5 inches.

    Not everyone's cup of tea!
    I'll have Manhattans! Shaken!

I have to admit I am one of those who don't enjoy cut and/or engraved glass... (tough I've got a couple of them in my collection). Pressed glas isn't my cup of tea either. Still, I can appreciate beauty in them. This one looks a bit over the top to me but it truly has an amazing cut work. You have an amazing collection, vet.

      Hello Vet,
I happen to love cut & engraved glass as well, for many of the same reasons. I remember when my My Czech Grandmother would send us pieces of cut glass in the 50's, 60's, and 70's,..........it was always a thrill. It was usually packed in excelsior, and the boxes would be all crushed and torn, with excelsior leaking out. My mind is like a snow globe filled with such special times.
Yes, I love the piece you posted, and would thrill on many levels at the sharpness of the cuts.
      Thanks for posting it.
