I recently found these little scissors and am having trouble finding anything on them. I don't believe them to be silver. They are stamped JEN-SAL GERMANY. I like the little thing and just want more info on them. Please help!
I have a pair very similar marked Hartford on a side, Germany the other. I found that they were made for one year in 1928.
Your scissors were the smallest, in a set of 3, promotional scissor sets by Jensen-Salsbery Laboratories, Inc. (Jen-Sal) out of Kansas City, MO. The other two pairs in the set were 9 3/4" and 6 1/8". Jen-Sal was a verterinary instruments supplier, founded around 1900. My father was a West Texas veterinarian in El Paso and he brought home several sets of the 3 sizes, one each for my mother and each of his 4 daughters in the 1950s or 1960s. I still have the 2 larger sizes, but long ago lost the small one. They have always brought joy to me as I use them. They are beautifully crafted and when closed form an ornate cross design. I don't know if they actually have gold and silver in them, but they have kept their color very well. I still use them daily, 50 years later! I have one extra 9 3/4" pair also, still in its original red plastic sleeve. Hope this clears up your mystery!
