Hello All,
I bought this ring yesterday at a thrift shop, it was at the back of a jewelry case facing away from my viewing, so that I couldn't see the front at all. What caught my eye was the 2 headed eagle on one side of it. Other symbols include a compass with the letter G, a cross with a flowering vine, and the other details visible in the photos.
It's sterling silver with a gold wash, and the woman that brought it to the shop was emphatic that the stone was a genuine spinel.
I was so enamoured of the curious nature of it that I slipped it onto my index finger,( it's way too big for my ring finger,...this guy was huge!)
Then while sitting, drawing, I noticed that it was no longer on my finger, and I didn't remember taking it off! I went through the house in a panic, as I'd been into everything in the course of the night, wrapping packages to send out, going through things in the basement, doing laundry and rummaging about in my bedroom,...which is bursting at the seams with so many things. I finally found it in the rubbish barrel in the basement. Apparently it had slipped off when I was throwing some things out and had filtered down to nearly the bottom of the barrel. It was odd the way it all happened, before it found me again.
Do you think it is Masonic?
Thanks for taking the time to look. T
I'm on my way to work but want to Thank You before I go,.....You're wonderful!
The one side has Shrine markings (Saber, Horns and Star). I'd say for sure this belonged to a Master Mason.........

Thanks mrcolorz, that's a great tip! Makes me wonder about the age of my ring, maybe it's not as old as I thought. Or it could be an earlier version of that design,...
thanks for cultivating the thought.
It is in fact a ring that belonged to a master mason. It sad to think that there was no one left in his family that wanted the ring. These rings mean a lot to the ones that wear them.
I agree Garry,
My brother is a Mason and I know that his ring is very special to him.
Your comment is much appreciated.
