These are of my father. The first is him in 1944 showing off the used bike a neighbor had just given him. Dad's family was very poor and could never afford to buy him one. The neighbor--old man Meaney-- had an extra and gave it to my dad. Look at his face. That's a happy kid! He was like thirteen years old and that's his first bike... It looks like a Columbia maybe. Anyway, fast forward sixty or so years and there he is in the second picture showing off the 1936 Elgin I restored for him. While he enjoyed the gesture he never did ride it. His right knee was to painful by this time.. Guess I waited to long. Thanks for looking!
