Here is my newest auction find; It is a Japanese Satsuma Moriage floor vase with Temple Dogs. It is about 36" tall, and about 22" wide at the handles. It has a little damage on the Temple/Foo Dogs that are the handles. It is marked on the lid and the rim of the base.
The feet are Foo Dog faces. I am fairly sure that this is from around the turn of the century (1900) and probably made in Tokyo Japan; but it could be from Kagoshima Prefecture on the Island of Kyushu, the land of the Samurai, that would be great to find out, but it could also be from Kyoto or Yokohama.
If you have any info. about this please share it with me.

really gorgeous piece - but probably more like mid-century, which is when this type of glaze was used like this most.
Did you ever learn what this is? I have a similar piece, but much larger.
Thanks!
