Well, I'm new to this site and am here because I am wanting to know more about this odd pen that I got at an auction.
From this site, I gather it is a "DIP" pen. Assuming it to be brass and mother of pearl. It is NON-magnetic. There are no markings, numbers, or stamps on the pen.
Overall length is 6 1/6 inches.
Are these pens common?
What time period might it be from?
Is it old junk or a collectible item?
Is it considered a "fountain pen"?
Any insight to this old pen would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Thank you very much AR8Jason for sharing your knowledge! I'll look at your previous postings. Two days ago I had never even heard of a dip pen.
I found this in an old box of mechanical pencils and wasn't sure what to make of it. I don't think there's any gold on this pen due to the typical brass-like tarnish and the lack of any hallmark. The "nib" is also brass.
Now I know it's from around the turn of the previous century and back then would have been a common "DIP" pen.
Thanks again!
Ok AR8Jason,
They are posted under "pencils" as you requested but I don't think they are anything special.
Thanks anyway.
