Hello All,
Would anyone happen to recognize the mark on this Italian ceramic vase?
I thought I had it a couple of times then lost the trail.
Best Regards, Tony.

Hi Tony! Ciao Tonino!
Sesto F.no refers to the town of Sesto Fiorentino outside Florence.
The AR.DE. or AR.VE. is a little more problematic.
AR normally is a short form of ARTE.
I couldn't be sure about the DE or VE until I saw this:
http://italianpotterymarks.freeforums.org/post1831.html
So it is definitely AR. DE
on the Italian Pottery marks page they have a list of the ceramics firms still working in Sesto Fiorentino:
http://www.sestopromuove.it/pdf/sesto_fiorentino_ceramics_list_2008.pdf
You'll note that there's nothing there involving AR DE.
It could well have folded.
I'm still looking around. Ciao Kev.
I may have found it!
I think the factory was called ARTE DELLA CERAMICA ITALIANA.
It was founded in Sesto Fiorentino by Wais Guarnieri and Otello Conti at the beginning of the 1930's on the site of an older factory called "La Colonnata".
They ceased production in 1936 and were taken over by another group calling themselves Arte Ceramica Italiana. They were three entrepreneurs called Giorgio Barraud, Nello Messeri, and Wais Guarnieri. Otello Conti had moved elsewhere.
Kevin. You're too good!!!
How on earth do you do it? really!
I think that I should box up everything I have and send it to You, the more knowledgeable and deserving custodian of all things beautiful.
Ciao mio amico!
Thank You, Thank You, Manikin
budek, SPECTACULAR!! I have to agree, I don't know how vetraio does it. I'm tempted to buy him/her a plane ticket to go through the knee deep treasures I am living in since unpacking my Grandparents estate boxes!!! This is gorgeous and reminds me of the CapodiMonte lamps I have. Great item, Mich
I have 3 totes full of these same items that I found in the basement. The lady whom lived here previously (now deceased) was born and raised in Italy.
Belated Thanks to Michelle & agh, forgive me that it's been so long,
and Thanks to smash2983 to taking the time to comment,
Much appreciated all!
Tony.

In regards to the vas made in italy, I am glad to finally see another one online. I have a set of 4 of these one pouring, 2 like yours, and 1 bowl. I believe they are a set I bought them 15 years ago at an estate auction and they have been boxed up ever since. Mine have the same markings on the bottom. I just wanted to say thanks to you for looking and Kevin for knowing, I now have a little more information about the history of these vases
My grandmother recently acquired the same vase as pictured. I've been trying to figure out any information possible on this and was so glad to see these posts! Does anyone know the rough value of this vase?
Thanks,
Jess
I have a set of 3, perfect condition. Is there a market for these pieces?
My mother poseses the same vase and and a matching oval bowl. My father (was a sailor) bought it in Italy over 50 years ago. Would like to know more about it.
Thank you.
I have the identical vase..630/30..
any ideas on it's value?
Looking for info on ar. De sesto large gilded box with roses. Marking is 1003/130/25 r.m.
