This is the mytical KARTIO by ranck, and the 1950s version of it. A simmilar one in red is displayed at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. I had just bought this one when saw it, so I got this strange feeling... in any case, it's great when one goes to a museum and starts saying: "I've got it, I've got it, I've got it not, I've got it..." LOL
I also have one of the new KARTIO jugs... in fact there are several versions of it made by Iittala. When Iittala started producing this Nuutajärvi model, they redesigned a machine-made version of it, with thicker walls and a straight-lined beak. Afer 2000 they started making another model with thinner walls -simmilar to the original handblown model- and a slightly more organic-in-shape beak. From 2006 or so, the beaks look almost like the riginal ones.
I've also got a set of 6 matching glasses, the original ones, and a series of thck walled ones... I will upload those pictures sometime soon.
I have a pre-2000 Iittala one in blue with the straighter spout..
I love that one :) Is it cobalt blue?
I have ten dark blue glasses.
The jug has so far eluded me!
They are great to drink from!
V, when I come stay at your house, please give me plastic cups. Don't trust me, I'm a breaker. Same goes for you Austro!
haha, Amber... I will trust yuo and let you drink from my everyday glasses: Timo Sarpaneva's TIMO for Design House Stockholm... in return you must promise not to move your arms at all when i show you my collection... just in case! ;)
Still need the plastic, but will stay very still when seeing your collection. But might have to run outside a couple of times to do the "look how pretty" dance!!
LOL!!! you made me laugh like crazy!!!
No, mine isnt cobalt blue, it's more like a smokey blue..
