Hello Amigos,
This is my one piece of Steuben glass. I bought it at a consignment shop about 5 years ago for a song and dance. I fell in love with it before I ever touched it. The engraving is just beautiful, the cupped bottom, the ground area where it's signed, the overall shape,....all exquisite.
It has a couple of light scratches,( otherwise mint ), but I've been told that they could easily be polished out. Wouldn't matter, though, as I love it quite, and wouldn't want to take a chance and have it break.
The wear of the foot-print leads me to believe that it's an old piece,....maybe 20's or 30's?
Adios, Amigos,
Tony.
This is a seriously nice piece, mate!
It is by Sidney Waugh, who did the Gazelle Bowl.
He did a Diana about 1940. According to the Corning Museum its dimensions are: Overall H: 12.2 cm, Diam (max): 10.7 cm
The Wichita museum has one too:
Steuben (Sidney Waugh, designer)
Steuben Glass, Incorporated (1933-1958)
Diana Vase (ca. 1939)
4 3/4 x 4 1/8 in.

Kevin,
This all gets my heart beating faster. Now I'm terrified of owning it. If you only knew where it spent it's first several years with me,.....but I was always very careful about it.
I've had it put away for a while, just to keep it safe. When I washed it to photograph it for this posting I thought, " What a beautiful sound",....the sound of it ringing as I brushed the towel over it.
What do you suppose I should do? I'm just about as poor as a church mouse. Maybe it doesn't belong with me. Seriously, maybe it should be displayed in a museum somewhere.
Thank You, too, Bellin. I'm glad that you love it as well
and Kerry, Thank You
Keep it safe. It is surely not that rare!
There are two others at least elsewhere.
Yours is a third.
It's a production piece.
Just love it.
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!
I'll love it as I have loved it, and it will remain safe.
Wish that I could send you all a kiss of this beautiful New England day.
The end of an era. Steuben has closed.

I would display that and enjoy it every day. Too beautiful for a box.
