Here are some more shots. I showed where there are dings, and it appears to be under the gilt and some paint, wood. I think the basic structure, the T-bar behind the eagle, the circle itself and most large parts seem to be wood. The plaster appears to be attached to the wood to create the eagle and leaves, and other embellishment. There is a patent #, I don't know if one can find information by the patent #, the first # is the customer #, though it's hard to read customer. There is some kind of logo, but, it is damaged, so I see it is blue and a little squarish, but I can't be sure. Oh help me sleuths of CW, I am really curious about this one. Now that I finally got it down and saw the use of nails on wood where the plaster is attached, now I have NO idea how old it is...maybe the patent # will be the big clue. tank you again for your help, Mich

AR8 Jason, now that we see the basic structure is wood embellished with the plaster eagle and flora, can you give me any idea of its Circa??? The other fed mirror post shows the back better. I am so baffled. I knew it wasn't plastic, and I believe the wood might be cedar, as under the scratches, the wood is a little "copper" colored. This remains the greatest mystery in all my Grandparents stuff, though I have yet to finish the boxes!! Thank you for the love everyone, Mich

I know that it was supposed to have made the trip across country by my Mom and grandparents in their move to California from New York in 1940. Mom said it was there as long as she remembered, and it , in fact , was the cause of a huge argument between my Mom and Aunt which ended their relationship for life, but Mom ended up with the Mirror. So

My Grandparents seem to have been somewhat obsessive about covering the back of all their art, or perhaps their framer did it, but all the art that can be is covered with brown paper. I don't want to tear it off. Ar8, my Grandparents were Collector's, there are many Albert Fitch bellows paintings and other greats I have not posted. They had expensive taste. I am sure the mirror came from the east Coast, so that would be 1940. Of that I am sure, but the invention of the ball point pen , of course, throws intrigue into all this. Just how old is this mirror. If you could see it in person, you would see that it is very old. Not from the fifties or sixties, certainly not the seventies. Ah well, I might just have to pay to get this one appraised!! darn!! AR8, you are a mental treasure amidst all these visual treasures!! Thank you, as always, for your time and effort. Mich

Hi AR8, I did not pay attention when I took the photos. I will have to wait for the neighbor to lift it off the wall, it is heavy, and I will find out and see if that is a possibility. thank you again, for your help, Mic
