Beautiful clock! Do you have any photos of the sides and top? This clock was made by the Japy Freres company, one of the oldest and most respected French clock makers. Dates to late 1920s early 1930s, would be my guess, based on its style and materials. I've never seen this model before - very striking.

thankyou for your comment - there is no maker's mark on this clock and I have always wonderered its origin - can you email me at robpringle@optusnet.com.au and I will attach other photos of the clock - thankyou, Rob

I am curious as to why you believe it is a clock made by Japy Frères. It is a stunning clock. Japy Frères always signed their clocks either with 'Japy Frères' on the back of the mouvement or with their famous logo of two crossed arrows and a 'J'. If there are no maker's marks, then it is somewhat doubtful that it is a Japy. However that does not detract from its beauty. Thank you for posting it.
