THIS WAS PICKED UP AT THE FLEA MARKET THIS WEEKEND. IT HAS A PATENT DATE OF 1949 BARELY LEGIBLE ON THE STRAP. IT LOOKS TO BE MADE OF OAK AND RED OAK. VERY STURDY. PART OF THE TRIGGER MECHANISM IS BROKE OFF BUT YOU CAN STILL PUMP THE UNIT BACK AND FORTH TO ACHIEVE THE SOUND EFFECT. 25 INCHES LONG BY 51/2 INCHES TALL. THE ONLY MARKINGS ON THE BUTT IS HELL.... PATENTED. THE THIRD PICTURE IS AFTER I PATTERNED A NEW TRIGGER MECHANISM FOR THE GUN.

    Unsolved Mystery

I would guess this to be an Army training gun.
