This is a singer that is in a wooden box. Its not the shiny finish like I have seen on the older models. Its a rough mat finish crinkle or godzilla. It has 21 on the bottom and on the side of the machine. It says simanco USA 32658 on the bottom as well. Any idea the year and Model of this machine?

The singer website has a page where you can find the year of manufacture based on the serial number. I'll stop back and leave a link.

I would say this machine has been refurbished (it's a service Singer and others used to offer). it may have been converted to electric at the same time. Can you see if there are letters and numbers, on the long oval plate near the front lower right hand side? The machine is a Singer 66.

The Simanco 32658 isn't the serial number.

There is an oval spot at the front but brass plate is missing. It is very hard to make out with it says. The best I can tell out says AC265. Hope this helps. Thanks.

The repaint has probably gone over the plaque - it's not really a plate, normally just an unpainted area of the machine bed with an indented surround, the number is stamped into bare metal. The series including AC265xxx is a batch of 35,000 model 66 machines commissioned 31 July 1928 - which pretty much confirms that this is a refurbished machine. If it's ACxxx265 its a batch of 50,000 from the 1st February 1928, the AC series finishes in Jan 1930.

If the machine is refurbished does that take away from the value?

Even a 1928 66 in pristine original condition isn't all that valuable. It's value at the moment is only as a second-hand sewing machine. If it works, and the electricals are safe, it's a good machine to use :)
Looking at the style of case I would guess it was refurbished in the 1950's to 60's.
