    this level was made in Athil.mass USA.Don't know the year it was made,the base is cast iron, with a rounded grove on the bottom witch makes me think it was a steel workers.there's also a second level in the base.you can see it in picture 2 on right. the outer cover on big level turns to cover it like a shield to protect it.

      It's a machinists level, the rounded groove is for placing on a shaft, very nice, thanks for sharing.
      I wish I had one in the shop!

      Yes it's a nice level but you can still buy them new.

      I like the design of it & the fact that you can cover the vial by rotating the outer sleeve, it just shows craftsmanship & quality.

      These are handy tools, we use them at my work all the time when leveling machines. We usually use the 98 series from 6" to 18" long that have .005" per foot graduations on them.
