Josephinenhuette "Cypern" Series Glass, designed by Max Rade, ca. 1899-1900

These vessels are from the Cypern Series of iridescent glassware produced by Josephinenhuette as early as 1881. The three examples shown here, relief gold-painted with mottled decoration, were designed by Professor Max Rade in Dresden, ca. 1899-1900*. They came in various colors, three of which are shown here. The first is known as "Bronze" Cypern, with its blue iridescence over emerald green glass. Then there is a rare cobalt-blue crystal version, and finally a crystal version with a single applied handle. Pieces have also been found gold, light green, and pink crystal.
